Abstract

Purpose

This paper draws on the conservation of resources (COR) theory to understand how organizational embeddedness develops through psychological ownership and organizational justice. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of three dimensions of organizational justice on organizational embeddedness and psychological ownership and the effect of psychological ownership on organizational embeddedness. The mediating role of psychological ownership between organizational justice and organizational embeddedness was also examined.

Design/methodology/approach

Data were collected from 300 engineers in Pakistan's power sector using a three-wave quantitative survey. Partial least squares path modeling was used to analyze the data.

Findings

The results show that distributive and procedural justice results in the development of organizational embeddedness. Simultaneously, psychological ownership mediates the link between all three dimensions of organizational justice and organizational embeddedness.

Practical implications

By highlighting the importance of organizational justice and psychological ownership, this study offers managers with two distinct strategies for enhancing their employees' organizational embeddedness.

Originality/value

There is a lack of research investigating the distinct effects of three dimensions of organizational justice on the three dimensions of organizational embeddedness. Further, research to investigate the intervening mechanisms that connect organizational justice and embeddedness is scarce. Finally, the COR theory has been utilized to explain how embeddedness works. However, it had not been utilized previously to understand the process through which embeddedness is accumulated. This study fills these gaps by examining the distinct effects of three dimensions of organizational justice on three dimensions of organizational embeddedness and examining these relationships' mediation through psychological ownership.

Abstract

Purpose

Human resource practices are transforming at a varying pace for different businesses to meet the increasingly intensified external challenges. The pursuit of innovation while balancing the tensions between flexibility and efficiency has become a core challenge for survival in this globally competitive era. The literature identifies ambidexterity as a realistic choice to manage these tensions during transformation towards diversified and innovative human resource practices. Based on social exchange theory (SET), this study explores the impact of ambidextrous human resource practices (AHRPs) on organization members' innovation performance while examining the mediating effect of psychological safety.

Design/methodology/approach

Data were collected for this cross-sectional study in three waves, and the final sample included 788 employees from 32 companies across different industries in China.

Findings

The results of data analysis indicate support for all the hypothesized relationships. AHRPs positively affect employee innovation performance; employee psychological safety mediates this relationship; inclusive leadership moderates the direct effect of AHRPs on employee psychological safety and the indirect effect of AHRPs on employee innovative performance through psychological safety. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are also presented.

Originality/value

This study examines AHRPs’ influence on employee innovation performance mediated by psychological safety and the moderating role of inclusive leadership in the above relationship to clarify the boundary conditions of AHRPs' effect on innovation performance.

Abstract

Purpose

Consumers are increasingly embracing innovative technologies for enhanced experiences. This study delves into the banking consumer brand experience through the lens of augmented reality (AR). The focus is on mobile augmented reality applications within financial institutions, which contribute to a more enjoyable and immersive customer experience. Specifically, the research highlights the utilisation of mobile augmented reality applications by a Pakistani bank and examines its influence on consumer loyalty and sustained engagement, with a particular emphasis on the AR brand experience.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors conducted a comparative study between married and unmarried consumers with sample sizes of 178 and 172, respectively. The results were analysed through structural equation modelling using SmartPLS.

Findings

The study's outcomes show that AR brand experience for the unmarried sample category is positive and higher than a married one. This is an excellent opportunity for the banking sector in Pakistan to invest more in innovative technologies.

Originality/value

The current study investigates the brand experience in the banking sector from the perspective of AR technology which contributes to the AR literature.

Abstract

Purpose

Field excited flux switching machines (FEFSM) are preferred over induction and synchronous machines due to the confinement of all excitation sources on the stator leaving a robust rotor. This paper aims to perform coupled electromagnetic thermal analysis and stress analysis for single phase FEFSM as, prolonged high-speed operational time with core and copper losses makes it prone to stress and thermal constraints as temperature rise in machine lead to degraded electromagnetic performance whereas the violation of the principle stress limit may result in mechanical deformation of the rotor.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper presents the implementation of coupled electromagnetic-thermal and rotor stress analysis on single-phase FEFSM with non-overlap winding configurations using finite element analysis (FEA) methodology in JMAG V. 18.1. three-dimensional (3D) magnetic loss analysis is performed and extended to 3D thermal analysis to predict temperature distribution on various parts of the machine whereas Stress analysis predicts mechanical stress acting upon edges and faces of the rotor.

Findings

Analysis reveals that temperature distribution and rotor stress on the machine is within acceptable limits. A maximum temperature rise of 37.7°C was noticed at armature and field windings, temperature distribution in stator near pole proximity was 35°C whereas no significant change in rotor temperature was noticed. Furthermore, principal stress at the speed of 3,000 rpm and 30,000 rpm was found out to be 0.0305 MPa 3.045 MPa, respectively.

Research limitations/implications

The designed machine will be optimized for improvement of electromagnetic performance followed by hardware implementation and experimental testing in the future.

Practical implications

The model is developed for axial fan applications.

Originality/value

Thermal analysis is not being implemented on FEFSM for axial fan applications which is an important analysis to ensure the electromagnetic performance of the machine.
